Basic Dog Treats
Mix together
3 1/2 cup unbleached flour,
2 cup whole wheat flour,
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup skim milk powder
1 tablespoon (or 1 package) dry yeast
3 1/2 cups lukewarm chicken or meat broth

Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm chicken or meat broth. The
richer this broth is, the better your dog will like the biscuits. Let
yeast broth mixture set 10 min. Then stir in flour mixture. Roll
resulting dough out 1/4" thick. Cut dog biscuit shapes from dough.
Brush biscuits with egg wash. Bake on greased cookie sheets at
300* for 45 min. Then turn off oven and leave in overnight to

Flea Hater's Dog Biscuits
marthastewart.com archives

Brewers yeast is a natural anti-flea remedy.

Makes about 5 dozen bone biscuits
1 cup flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup brewer’s yeast (available at health-food stores)
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil
1 clove garlic, chopped medium
1/2 cup chicken stock plus 3 tablespoons for basting

1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment
paper. Mix flour, wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, and salt together in
a medium bowl. In a mixing bowl, combine oil and garlic.
Alternately add 1/2 cup chicken stock and flour mixture in 3 parts;
mix until well combined. Knead about 2 minutes by hand on
floured surface; dough will be sticky.

2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out about 3/8 inch thick.
Cut out bone shapes; place on prepared baking sheet. Bake 10
minutes, rotate baking sheet, and baste with remaining 3
tablespoons chicken stock. Bake 10 minutes longer. Turn off
oven, leaving oven door closed. Leave pan in oven for 1 1/2
hours longer

Tuna Brownies
Tuna Brownies: Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Drain 2 regular
sized cans of tuna and pour into large mixing bowl.Mix in 2 (or
substitute with crushed garlic)Blend well, into a doughy ball, and
for about 25-30 minutes or until golden. Cut into tiny squares,
however small you need them. I also sprinkle extra garlic powder
on top before putting it in the oven. I store them in the freezer
because I make several batches at a time but they do keep for a
good bit in an airtight container. Salmon can also be substituted
for tuna.

Try to retain the lightness of the egg whites. Bake for 34-45

frost with the cream cheese. Decorate with small dog biscuits and
serve to your eager doggie birthday guests.

use a cookie cutter. Bake 20 minutes at 300, remove cut into bars

from Will Snyder

1 LB. sliced beef liver
Place in blender (raw) High Speed till frothy, pour in bowl -
Add two (2) cups flour and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
Mix (this is the messy part) and place in greased 8 x 8 pan
Bake at 350 for 25 min. Cut while warm.

by Cheri McNealy of Creative Candids
1lb liver
1 packet Lipton's soup - any flavor (THE DRY SOUP MIXES -
beefy onion,onion, onion mushroom)
2 eggs
3 cups oatmeal
1 tsp crushed garlic (from a bottle)

Puree liver in blender. BE CAREFUL. It gets wrapped around the
blade and can ruin the motor. Add eggs. Add soup and garlic.
Blend some more. Dump in bowl. Add oatmeal. Mix thoroughly.
Grease big pan. Pour mixture in pan and spread around til it's the
thickness of brownies. Bake 1 hour at 250 - 300*. Cut immediately
(use a pizza cutter - works great) and freeze in brownie sizes.
Experiment with the amount of oatmeal. 3 cups is a starting point.
You might want LESS liver and MORE oatmeal.

Liver Bread Variation
Melissa & Bela-Bu from Sacramento

Yields: 2 loaves Baking time: 25-30 min
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rolled oats (or oat flour)
2 large eggs
2 to 2 1/2cups "chicken liver shake"(**)
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 to 1 cup of chopped parsley leaves
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese (or crumbled feta)
3/4 cup canola oil
(**)To make the "liver shake" purchase two foster farms small liver
containers and put them in the blender until smooth. I use my old
blender to
do this.

Directions: combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and spoon
into baking
pans (I use aluminum disposable pans). If using regular pans do
not forget to
grease them. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until inserted toothpick
comes out
clean. Your house now will have the wonderful smell of "liver
bread"...
At this point your dogs will be going nuts and making all kind of
interesting
noises---Poor babies! The bread freezes well and is great for gift
giving during the
holidays---just get the mini-loaf aluminum baking pans at the
supermarket.
Enjoy!
